Dr. Jennifer L. Bartlett serves as Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean for the Macon Campus at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University. She earned her PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Master of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cleveland State University. With a professional background in intensive care nursing, Dr. Bartlett has been a nurse educator in hospitals and colleges since 1999. She joined the faculty at Mercer's Atlanta campus in 2015 and advanced to her current position, where she leads the expansion of the undergraduate nursing program to the Macon campus launching in fall 2025. In this role, she collaborates on curriculum integration, simulation lab design—including approving blueprints, selecting equipment, and training faculty—and fosters optimal learning environments for students.
Dr. Bartlett is widely recognized as a leader in nursing education, ethics, and simulation. She holds certifications as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), and is board-certified in medical-surgical nursing (RN-BC). Her research interests include nursing education aspects such as simulation, technical innovation, ethics, and curriculum development. She contributed to the author team for the textbook Fundamentals of Nursing: The Art and Science of Person-Centered Care, including updates to its electronic 8th edition, and co-authored Ethics Education for Nurses: Foundations for an Integrated Curriculum in 2022. Serving as lead co-chair, she oversaw the revision of the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics for Nurses in 2025, working with a 50-member expert team. Dr. Bartlett has been a member of the ANA Center for Ethics and Human Rights Ethics Advisory Board since 2019, chaired its Ethics Education Subcommittee from 2019 to 2023, and developed a faculty toolkit with the National League for Nursing. She also serves as an inaugural standing internal advisory board member of Mercer's Center for Leadership, Ethics, and Service. Additional accomplishments include selection as a 2016 Governor's Teaching Fellow, completion of a two-year clinical ethics consultation program at Bon Secours Richmond Health System, international presentations on nursing ethics, and simulation consulting for a university in Muscat, Oman.
