Dr. Jessica Siva is a Senior Lecturer in Construction Management in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle, Australia, within the College of Engineering, Science and Environment. She serves as Program Convenor for the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in construction management and architecture at the University of Newcastle, Deakin University, and RMIT University. Her qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Building, Master of Philosophy, and Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) from the University of Newcastle, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science) from Curtin University. With over 20 years in research and teaching, she supervises PhD and honours students, leads work-integrated learning on sustainable practices, and holds Fellowship of the Advance Higher Education Academy.
Dr. Siva's research focuses on megaproject decision-making, examining governance, power dynamics, and behaviours in projects like skyscrapers and tunnels. She addresses sustainable built environments, circular economy, project governance, and women in construction leadership. She has produced over 50 peer-reviewed outputs, including the book Power in Megaproject Decision-Making: A Governmentality Approach (2024) and lead-edited Best Practices in Sustainable Built Environments: Case Studies from India and Australia (2025). Select publications are 'The hidden barriers to social value delivery in megaprojects' (2023), 'Client learning for successful architect-client relationships' (2012), and 'Driving the zero-carbon construction strategy' (2025). She has attracted over $500,000 in grants, leading initiatives like Resilient Water Solutions for Coastal Communities ($375,909; 2025-2028). Awards include three Emerald Best Paper Awards (2009, 2011, 2012), ProSPER.Net UN Young Researchers Scholarship, University of Newcastle Global Engagement Excellence Award (2024), Early Career Researcher Finalist (2025), and joint Employability Excellence Award (2023). Her international work fosters zero-carbon networks and gender equity, impacting sustainable construction.
