Dr. Jodi Robledo is a Professor in Special Education at California State University, San Marcos, in the College of Education, Health and Human Services School of Education. She serves as the Program Coordinator of the Education Specialist Credential Programs and Master’s Degree option, and also teaches courses in the Speech-Language Pathology Department. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Dr. Robledo contacts for curriculum-based questions in the Applied Behavior Analysis certificate program. She joined California State University, San Marcos in 2011 after serving as a K-12 Autism Specialist and Education Specialist in the San Diego Unified School District, an urban multicultural school district. Her academic background includes a Master’s of Education in Special Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, focusing on autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities, both earned from the University of San Diego. There, she co-founded the university’s Autism Institute. From her high school service-learning program tutoring students with disabilities, Dr. Robledo has dedicated her career to understanding how individuals with disabilities learn and the most effective teaching methods.
Dr. Robledo’s research specializations include Autism Spectrum Disorder, supportive relationships, sensory and movement differences, building self-advocacy skills in youth with ASD, and inclusive education. She has authored joint peer-reviewed journal publications, such as “Supportive Relationships in Autism Spectrum Disorder” with Anne M. Donnellan in 2016, and “An exploration of sensory and movement differences from the perspective of individuals with autism” in 2012. Her contributions extend to several book chapters and numerous national conference presentations. She served as guest editor for a special issue on Autism Spectrum Disorder in Behavioral Sciences. At California State University, San Marcos, Dr. Robledo shapes future teachers for inclusive environments, with her program candidates highly recruited by regional school districts due to their practical experiences. Her work emphasizes representing the voices of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.
