Key publications include the highly cited "Child Maltreatment in the United States: Prevalence, Risk Factors, and Adolescent Health Consequences" (Pediatrics, 2006), "Cohort Profile: The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health)" (International Journal of Epidemiology, 2019), "The Depths of Despair Among US Adults Entering Midlife" (American Journal of Public Health, 2019), and "Preconception Stress, Birth Weight, and Birth Weight Disparities among U.S. Women" (American Journal of Public Health, 2014). His scholarship has earned recognition such as the Edward G. McGavran Award for Excellence in Teaching (2011), election to the Delta Omega Honorary Public Health Society (2012), and multiple highly cited papers (top 1% on Web of Science).
