Julien Chapuis is an Assistant Professor (Maître de Conférences) at the University of Lille, affiliated with Inserm Unit U1167 (RID-AGE) at the Pasteur Institute of Lille. He is a member of the research team focused on the molecular determinants of Alzheimer's disease and related syndromes. The team's work characterizes genetic determinants of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease, through high-throughput genomic approaches such as genome-wide association studies and sequencing on large patient and control populations via European and global consortia, including coordination of the EADB consortium. Functional studies then examine the roles of identified genetic factors using biochemical, cell biology, and molecular methods in cellular and animal models, along with high-content screens and cell imaging. This research has contributed to hypotheses regarding synaptic dysfunction and loss as early features in Alzheimer's disease pathology.
Chapuis participates in collaborative publications on topics including the roles of genes such as FERMT2 in APP metabolism and axonal growth, BIN1 in tauopathy, and broader genetic landscapes of Alzheimer's disease. His professional email address is publicly listed on official institutional pages.
