Karina Jones is a Lecturer in Veterinary Anatomy at Murdoch University's School of Veterinary Medicine, where she also serves as the second-year coordinator and assessment lead for veterinary medicine students. She contributes to innovative teaching, including practical sessions with the skills lab horse 'Baloo' in the Boola Katitjin academic building. Jones holds a PhD, a Bachelor of Animal Veterinary Bioscience with Honours (BAnVetBioSc(Hons)), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Prior to joining Murdoch University, she was affiliated with James Cook University's College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences, focusing on wildlife health and veterinary education research.
Her research specializations encompass wildlife health and conservation, with a particular emphasis on fibropapillomatosis and disease risks in marine turtles, as well as veterinary and medical education topics such as student transitions from pre-clinical to clinical training, workforce readiness, cognitive load measurement, and assessment strategies like virtual OSCEs.
