She holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD from the University of Sydney. Belov’s research focuses on immunogenetics and comparative genomics, with particular emphasis on the immunity and health of Australia’s native species, including Tasmanian devils and koalas. She leads initiatives in conservation genomics and has contributed to understanding the evolution of the adaptive immune system in marsupials and monotremes.
Belov was appointed to her Pro-Vice-Chancellor role in 2016, initially focused on global engagement and later expanded to include research engagement. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA), a Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales (FRSN), and an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). Her work has advanced knowledge in marsupial and monotreme genomics and supported conservation efforts for threatened wildlife species.
