Dr Keeth Mayakaduwage is an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash University and a resident medical officer in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit at Monash Health. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine from Monash University, awarded in 2017, as well as a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) from the same institution.
Dr Mayakaduwage’s research focuses on stillbirth prevention and pregnancy loss care. He served as lead author on a series of studies evaluating the Safer Baby Bundle, Australia’s national stillbirth prevention program, with findings published in The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology demonstrating reductions in stillbirth and perinatal mortality rates. His contributions include analyses of impacts on causes of perinatal death and equity across population groups. Dr Mayakaduwage has received the 2024 Public Health Association of Australia Emerging Leader Award for his advocacy in pregnancy loss care and stillbirth prevention, the 2024 Hospital Medical Officer of the Year award at Monash Health, and an Australian Medical Association Women’s Health Award. He participates in mentoring programs for medical students and interns at Monash University and Monash Health, and contributes to health education initiatives for diverse community groups.
