Dr. Kelli Larson is a Lecturer at Curtin Law School in the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University. She is a Mid-Career Researcher and serves on the Early to Mid-Career Researcher Network Steering Committee for Business and Law. Larson earned her Doctor of Science degree majoring in Commercial Law from Hanken School of Economics in Finland in 2017. Her doctoral dissertation, titled 'The Exploitation and Enforcement of Patents by Non-Practicing Entities: Practices, Developments and Future Challenges,' analyzed patent laws, litigation, and patent enforcement in the context of non-practicing entities across major jurisdictions including the USA, Europe, and China. Complementing her doctorate, she holds a Diploma in Business Administration, a Diploma in International Trade, a Bachelor of Business degree, a Bachelor of Laws degree, a Master of Science degree in Commercial Law, and a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching for Higher Education. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Larson's research explores the intersections of law, business, and technology, with current projects in patent law and litigation, corporations law, and corporate governance. She specializes in corporate law, corporate governance, and patent law, with a focus on patent prosecution, infringement, and enforcement. Her career includes international research appointments such as Research Fellow at the Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property at George Mason University in the USA, Visiting Researcher at the University of Calgary in Canada, Visiting Researcher at LegalEDHEC, EDHEC Business School in Lille, France, Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law in Munich, Germany, and Invited Researcher at the Institute of Intellectual Property in Tokyo, Japan. At Curtin, she coordinates and teaches units in commercial law, corporate law, corporate governance, contract law, patent law, copyright law, civil procedural law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution across LLB, LLM, PhD, and MBA programs. Larson has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences and contributed submissions to Australian parliamentary committees on corporate governance challenges in professional services firms and partnerships.
