Dr Kelly Garton is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Population Health at the University of Auckland. She holds a PhD in Population Health from the University of Auckland (2016–2021), an MSc from the University of British Columbia (2014), and a BA from McGill University (2010). Her research focuses on the commercial determinants of health, the political economy of food systems, public health nutrition, health policy, policy analysis, and global health, with work examining global trade and investment in food and beverages through a political economy and health equity lens.
Dr Garton has held research fellow positions at the University of Auckland since 2021, advancing to Senior Research Fellow. She contributes to policy analysis and stakeholder analysis in public health nutrition and serves as a spokesperson for Health Coalition Aotearoa.
