Professor Kenneth Kamwi Matengu serves as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Namibia, a position he has held since August 2018. He previously held the role of Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Resources Mobilization at the same institution starting in 2016. Matengu began his career at the University of Namibia as a research intern in 1996 while pursuing his studies and advanced through various academic and administrative positions at the university.
Matengu earned a bachelor’s degree in geography and sociology from the University of Namibia, a certificate in international relations from the University of Tampere, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree with eximia cum laude distinction in innovation diffusion and development from the University of Eastern Finland. His academic work centers on innovation diffusion, technology, and development policy within the Social Sciences faculty. In addition to his university leadership, he holds positions as President of the governing board of the Association of African Universities, President of the council of the Pan-African University, and a council member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
