About Kinji

Kinji Ohno is Professor in the Department of Neurogenetics and Bioinformatics at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine. He earned his MD from Nagoya University School of Medicine in 1983 and completed his PhD at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine in 1992. His career includes internship and residency in internal medicine and neurology at Nagoya National Hospital, followed by research positions at the Mayo Clinic in the United States from 1993 to 1998 and appointment as Assistant Professor at Mayo Medical School from 1998 to 2004. Since 2004, he has served as Professor in the Division of Neurogenetics at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine, and since 2009 he has been Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine.

Ohno’s research focuses on neurogenetics and the molecular mechanisms of neuromuscular transmission, with interests in RNA metabolism, neuromuscular junctions, and the biological bases of molecular hydrogen effects. He has contributed to studies on defective neuromuscular transmission, RNA metabolism regulations, and drug repositioning for orphan diseases. Key publications include work on molecular hydrogen’s protective effects in Parkinson’s disease models and its impact on signal transduction in immune cells. Ohno has delivered invited presentations on molecular hydrogen and oxidative stress diseases and maintains an active research program at Nagoya University.
