Dr. Krista Jobson is Associate Professor of Flute in the School of Music and Associate Dean for Student Success in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, contributing significantly to Arts and Culture through her teaching and performances. She serves as Co-Principal Flute of the Valley Symphony Orchestra, performs regularly with the Brownsville Symphony Orchestra, and has held principal flute positions with the Coastal Carolina University Wind Ensemble and South Carolina Chamber Orchestra, as well as second flute roles in the South Carolina Philharmonic, Eastern Music Festival Orchestra, and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. Her career features extensive solo and chamber engagements, including guest artist recitals at Baylor University, University of North Texas, Lamar University, University of Trinidad and Tobago, Festival de Música de San Juan, San Antonio Flute Association Flute Day, Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) conventions, and National Flute Association (NFA) conventions.
Jobson holds a Bachelor of Music degree with honors from Converse College, a Master of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of South Carolina. A dedicated chamber musician, she performs with Duo Aldebaran (flute and guitar with Dr. Héctor Rodríguez), Cherry Street Duo (flute duo), NoviTrio (flute, viola, guitar), and Crossroads Quartet, and has recorded with several of these ensembles. At UTRGV, she directs the flute studio, provides TMEA All-State etude clinics, participates in Faculty Senate committees, and presents faculty recitals through programs like Patron of the Arts. She conducted a teaching and performance residency as guest soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Cuenca in Ecuador and supports community outreach through free concert series at Quinta Mazatlán.
