About Kui-Juan

Professor Kui-juan Jin received her B.S. degree from the Optics Department of Shandong University and her Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1995. She completed postdoctoral research at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the United States, followed by additional postdoctoral work at Lund University in Sweden, before returning to the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She was promoted to full professor in 2004 and became a group leader in 2005. Her career includes serving as Director of the Optical Physics Key Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2009 to 2017 and as assistant to the president of the Beijing National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics starting in 2008.

Professor Jin’s research focuses on exploring novel properties of low-dimensional perovskite oxides using optical methods, building on earlier contributions in the intersection of optics and condensed matter physics. She has received numerous honors, including support from the National Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scientists in 2008, the national award for excellent people in science and technology in 2010, the Xie-Xi-De physics award in 2011, election as a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 2011, and election as a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2012. She was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2023 and a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences in 2024. Her leadership roles include Chair of the Committee for Optical Physics of the Chinese Physical Society since 2009, Vice President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics since 2021 and Chair of its C13 commission, and service as an editor for Scientific Reports since 2015. She has also chaired the women in physics group of the Chinese Physical Society since 2015.
