Laura Prosser is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the School of Business at Black Hills State University, where she joined the faculty on August 15, 2002. She holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, both from the University of South Dakota. Throughout her over two decades at BHSU, Prosser has been actively involved in teaching accounting courses, including at the University Center in Rapid City. Prosser's research interests focus on accounting, data analytics, and ethics, as reflected in her Google Scholar profile. She has co-authored publications such as "The L3C movement: a case of contrary motion" with S.R. Dana in 2016, which has been cited five times, and contributed to works on infusing data analytics into accounting programs, also in 2016. In recognition of her dedication to instruction, she received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the BHSU College of Business for the 2024-2025 academic year. Prosser has demonstrated leadership within the university, serving as Interim Dean of the School of Business in 2022, where she oversaw initiatives like investments in new equipment for student training in business analytics. She has also served as a faculty advisor for the Kicking Assets student organization, which earned the South Dakota Board of Regents Organizational Leadership Award in 2024, alongside Dr. Susan Dana. Additionally, Prosser coordinates internships for the School of Business and participates in university committees, contributing to committee assignments for 2025-2026. Her service extends to advising student groups and supporting business programs across BHSU campuses.
