Lauren Blondeau is a faculty member in Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, completing her doctorate in 2014. During her graduate studies, she served as an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Educational Psychology from August 2012 to May 2014, teaching courses such as EDP 310: Individual Learning Skills. Blondeau's research focuses on educational psychology topics including sex differences in career guidance for undergraduate math majors, the impostor phenomenon's relation to achievement and future intentions in mathematics-related school and work, and the roles of gender stigma consciousness, impostor phenomenon, and academic self-concept in academic outcomes. Notable publications include 'Sex Differences in Career Guidance of Undergraduate Math Majors: Exploring the Effects of Professor Gender and Type of Mentorship Provided' co-authored with Germine H. Awad in the Journal of Career Development (2016); 'The Roles of Gender Stigma Consciousness, Impostor Phenomenon and Academic Self-Concept in the Academic Outcomes of Women and Men' (2015); and 'The Relation of the Impostor Phenomenon to Future Intentions of Mathematics-Related School and Work' (2016). She also contributed a chapter on the impostor phenomenon's relation to achievement at school and work.
After her Ph.D., Blondeau held a position at St. Edward's University before joining the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin in Spring 2015 as Assistant Professor of Instruction. In this capacity, she teaches statistics courses, including SDS 320E: Elements of Statistics in multiple semesters. Her teaching has earned her significant recognition, particularly for supporting students with disabilities. Blondeau received three Faculty and Staff Appreciation Awards from Services for Students with Disabilities (Spring 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2018), professional development awards from the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences (Spring 2017) and the Department of Undergraduate Studies (Fall 2019), and an award from the Texas Center for Disability Studies in 2021. She served on the Faculty Advisory Committee for Services for Students with Disabilities (2019-2020; 2020-2021) and participated in the Fall 2023 ACUE cohort, earning a teaching credential co-endorsed by the Association of College and University Educators and the American Council on Education.
