Professor Lawrence Loh is Director of the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at NUS Business School, National University of Singapore, where he serves as Professor in Practice of Strategy and Policy. He holds a PhD in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his thesis on technology governance received the global top prize in the Doctoral Dissertation Award at the International Conference on Information Systems in the field of Management Information Systems. He also earned a BBA (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. In his current role, Professor Loh leads initiatives on governance and sustainability for Asia-Pacific, ASEAN, and Singapore, including the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index, the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, and sustainability assessments for companies listed on the Singapore Exchange. He directs projects on ESG, climate reporting, nature and biodiversity reporting, and sustainable banking across the region.
Professor Loh has held numerous academic and administrative appointments at NUS, including Deputy Head of the Department of Strategy and Policy, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Al Ghurair University, Associate President of NUS, and various leadership positions in corporate communications, quality management, and higher education policy. He is a multi-time recipient of the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award and the NUS Business School Teaching Excellence Award, with his name placed on the NUS Honour Roll. He has served as a consultant for Fortune 500 companies and international organizations, contributed to Singapore’s National Technology Plan, and is a frequent commentator on business and policy issues in global media. Professor Loh maintains editorial roles, including guest editor for special issues on sustainability in corporate governance and strategic management, and serves as a judge for multiple sustainability awards across Asia.
