Leanne Larkin is a Lecturer in Science and Mathematics Education within the School of Education, College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences at Adelaide University. She teaches and coordinates primary science and secondary science and mathematics courses. Leanne has taught in a range of settings and contexts in Adelaide and the UK, most recently working in an international school in London. She has specialised in middle school science and mathematics, as well as senior physics and primary science. Leanne has experience as a curriculum coordinator, including both SACE and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, bringing valuable practical insights into curriculum design and delivery to her academic role.
Leanne's extensive teaching portfolio supports the preparation of future educators through a variety of specialized courses offered in 2024 and 2025. These include Mathematics Curriculum 1 (EDUC 2087), Mathematics Education 1 (EDUC 3073), Mathematics Curriculum 2 (EDUC 4242), Mathematics for Secondary Teaching 1 (EDUC 5184), Mathematics and Science for Senior Secondary Teaching (EDUC 5194), Mathematics for Secondary Teaching 2 (EDUC 5292), Mathematics for Primary Educators 1 (MATH 1057), Science Education (EDUC 2030), and Reflexive Practice and Professional Experience 1 (EDUC 5271). Delivered primarily at the Mawson Lakes campus, these courses at levels 1 through 5 are integral to key programs such as the Bachelor of Primary Education (Honours) (MHPE), Master of Teaching (MMET), and Bachelor of Secondary Education (Honours) (LHSE). Additionally, she is a co-author of the 2025 conference paper 'Enhancing student voice and success through students as partners (SAPS) pedagogy in the college of business, government and law' presented at the Higher Education Research Group Adelaide (HERGA).
