Dr. Lee Hamilton serves as Professor Emeritus in Literature at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 1982. Previously, as Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Texas-Pan American, the predecessor institution to UTRGV, Hamilton specialized in 19th Century British Literature and Bibliography. He held the administrative role of Chair of the English Department, documented in university publications from 1998. Hamilton was also listed as Associate Dean in official commencement programs for Fall 1997 and Spring 1998. His office was situated in the Communication Arts & Sciences Building, Room 213, with a listed contact phone of 956/381-3421.
Hamilton actively contributed to graduate education by advising Master of Arts theses in English. He served as the first advisor for Obed Sanchez's 1999 thesis, 'The Public Dream: A Jungian Interpretation of "The Waste Land,"' and as the third advisor for Samuel Arizpe's 2000 poetry collection, 'Teisho of a Tree in Light.' He participated alongside Dr. Kenneth Bain in receiving grants for summer study, as announced in university news releases. Hamilton engaged in academic governance, providing input on curriculum committee discussions regarding core curriculum proposals, as noted in The Pan American newspaper on June 18, 1998.
