Lisa Murphy is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Occupational Therapy, School of Primary and Allied Health Care, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Having joined the department in 2008, she teaches occupational therapy theory and practical skills to first- and second-year undergraduate students and supervises project work for third- and fourth-year students. In her current role as Director of Education for the School of Primary and Allied Health Care, she chairs the School Education Committee, working with heads of departments and course coordinators to ensure consistency and quality in course delivery across paramedicine, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, podiatry, speech pathology, radiography, radiation therapy, and medical ultrasound. She collaborates with other directors of education and faculty leadership to support academic governance and implement Monash education policies. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) from La Trobe University (2004), a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) from Deakin University (2000), a Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education from Monash University (2013), and a Graduate Certificate of Public Health from Deakin University (2022).
Her research specializations include curriculum development and assessment design, collaborative and interprofessional learning, simulation-based education, occupational science, population health, health promotion, time use, and international education. Key publications feature the book 'Doing our Best: Individual and Community Responses to Challenging Times' co-authored with Gail Whiteford and others (2022); 'Knowledge about and Attitudes of Interdisciplinary Team Members toward Occupational Therapy Practice: Implications and Future Directions' with N.M. Alotaibi and others (2019); 'Building Collaborative Practice and Graduate Attributes through Health Immersion in the Indo-Pacific' with A. Francis-Cracknell and others (2019); and 'An Evaluation of a Collaborative Interprofessional International Health Immersion Program on Graduate Attributes' with A. Lalor and others (2018). Murphy has received the Dean's Award for Excellence - Programs that Enhance Learning (team, 2023), School of Primary and Allied Health Care Award for Academic Excellence (team, 2023), and Faculty Teaching and Learning Travel Grants (2009, 2012, 2013). She serves on the World Federation of Occupational Therapists Program Approval Committee and was a member of Occupational Therapy Australia's eBook Working Group (2021-2022).
