About Lorraine

Dr. Lorraine Robinson RN DHC MSc PGDE BSc RNT is the Head of Department for Adult Nursing and Senior Lecturer in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at King’s College London. Her qualifications include Registered Nurse (RN), Doctorate in Health Care (DHC), Master of Science (MSc), Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Bachelor of Science (BSc), and Registered Nurse Teacher (RNT). She leads the largest department in the faculty, with around 50 staff including professors, senior lecturers, researchers, and PhD students. The department focuses on preparing students for excellence in adult nursing across specializations such as accident and emergency, care in the home, pain management, critical care, specialist practice, leadership, and management. Many graduates return to the department as teachers or researchers.

Dr. Robinson's research interests include nursing, cancer, palliative care, living with metastatic cancer, cancer genomics, and psychosocial support and interventions. Her key publications are 'A Delphi study on the research priorities of European oncology nurses' (2002, European Journal of Oncology Nursing), 'The experience of undertaking faculty practice' (2002, Nurse Education in Practice), 'Psychosocial impact of recurrent cancer' (2000, European Journal of Oncology Nursing), and editorial 'Cancer genetics' (2010, European Journal of Cancer Care). She serves as module lead for Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy Work Based Learning (Levels 6 and 7) and Acute Oncology Work-based Learning (Level 7). She co-developed the Cancer Care module for the BSc adult nursing curriculum, emphasizing inclusivity in cancer care. Dr. Robinson is a member of the King’s College London Academic Board.
