Marie Mallare, J.D., LL.M., S.J.D., is a lecturer in the Ethnic Studies department at California State University, Sacramento, part of the College of Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies. Marie Mallare's academic interests include Race & Ethnic Politics, International Relations, Asian Americans & the Law, Immigration & Deportation, U.S. Constitutional Law, International Law, Racial Justice Studies, and Filipino American Studies. She serves on the Faculty Senate, representing Ethnic Studies. Additionally, she moderates episodes for the university's Center for Race, Immigration, and Social Justice Justice Podcast. In Season 2, Episode 6, titled 'Defending Justice: A Conversation with Mano Raju, San Francisco Public Defender,' Marie Mallare, S.J.D., Ethnic Studies lecturer, hosts a discussion on what makes a good public defender, effective advocacy for the marginalized, and the legacy of Jeff Adachi. Her legal doctorate positions her to explore intersections of law and ethnic studies in teaching and campus discourse.
