Mark J. Perry is professor emeritus of economics at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and finance in the School of Management from 1996 until his retirement. He previously served as assistant professor of economics and finance at Jacksonville University from 1993 to 1996 and held visiting and instructor positions at George Mason University from 1990 to 1993. Perry holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University and an MBA in finance from the University of Minnesota.
Perry is concurrently senior fellow emeritus at the American Enterprise Institute, where his research areas include financial markets and U.S. and international economics. He is known as the creator and editor of the economics blog Carpe Diem. His academic publications include co-authored papers such as “On inflation and inflation uncertainty in the G7 countries” (1998) and “The effects of real and nominal uncertainty on inflation and output growth” (2000). Perry has contributed opinion pieces on economic issues to major newspapers and maintains an active scholarly focus on data visualization and economic analysis.
