Dr. Mohammad Abdul Matin Chowdhury serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance within the Faculty of Business at Curtin University Malaysia, located on the Miri, Sarawak Campus. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration (Finance) from the International Islamic University Malaysia, completed between 2018 and 2021. Prior to his appointment at Curtin, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Finance at the International Islamic University Malaysia from January 2019 to September 2021, where he contributed to literature reviews, problem statements, research objectives, methodologies, frameworks, and data collection for various projects. Currently, he also acts as the HDR Program Coordinator at the Curtin Malaysia Graduate School and participates in academic committees, including the MFAIC 2025 event committee. In 2025, he received funding from the CMTIP for his project "Enhancing Student's Wellbeing: A Study of Curtin University – Malaysia students."
Chowdhury's academic interests encompass digital finance, financial technology, banking and insurance, retirement planning, Islamic finance, green finance, environmental sustainability, digital financial inclusion, and banking performance. His research frequently examines topics in Southeast Asia, Bangladesh, and SAARC countries, including fintech adoption, customer loyalty in digital payments, impulse buying in e-tailing, climate change economics, zakat institutions, and graduate employability. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, with over 769 citations on Google Scholar. Key works include "Analysis of factors influencing impulse buying behavior towards e-tailing sites: an application of SOR model" (Contemporary Management Research, 2021, 107 citations), "A bibliometric analysis on the research trends of climate change effects on economic vulnerability" (Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022, 93 citations), "Research evolution in banking performance: a bibliometric analysis" (Future Business Journal, 2021, 69 citations), "The efficiency of Islamic Banks in the Southeast Asia (SEA) region" (Future Business Journal, 2021, 62 citations), and "Green finance and environmental sustainability: a systematic review and future research avenues" (Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2024, 46 citations).
