Dr. Mong-Lin Yu is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Occupational Therapy, School of Primary and Allied Health Care, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. She also serves as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the undergraduate occupational therapy program at the Peninsula Campus. Her academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Occupational Therapy from the University of Queensland (2005-2009), a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) from the University of Queensland (2002-2003), a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BScOT) from Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan (1997-2001), and a Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education (GCHPE) from Monash University (2010-2012). With more than 18 years of clinical experience as a paediatric occupational therapist in various settings including inpatient, community, and schools in both Taiwan and Australia, she was appointed at Monash University in 2010 to develop fieldwork education for the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course.
Dr. Yu's research interests lie in children's time use and activity participation, children's behavioural and psychosocial wellbeing, parenting practice and parental influences on child development, paediatric occupational therapy with children and families, evidence-based occupational therapy professional practice education, and international education in health professional education. She has earned notable awards such as the Monash University School of Primary Health Care Education Committee Innovation Teaching Excellence Award (2015), International Teaching Excellence Award (2016), Academy Better Teaching, Better Learning Small Grants Scheme (2018, shared), Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Gender Equity Support Grant (2019), and Monash University Outside Study Program (2019). Key publications include 'Interoception and its application to paediatric occupational therapy: A scoping review' (Clark, Brown, Yu, 2025, Australian Occupational Therapy Journal), 'Examining the Association Between the Computer-Aided Scoring and Manual Scoring for the Beery Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual Motor Integration (Beery VMI) and Children’s Handwriting Skills' (Lamb et al., 2025, Journal of Occupational Therapy, Schools, and Early Intervention), 'Listening and interpersonal communication skills as predictors of resilience in occupational therapy students' (Brown, Yu, Etherington, 2021, British Journal of Occupational Therapy), 'Exploring the relationship between resilience and practice education placement success in occupational therapy students' (Brown et al., 2020, Australian Occupational Therapy Journal), and 'Time use, parenting practice and conduct problems in four-to five-year-old Australian children' (Yu et al., 2010, Australian Occupational Therapy Journal). Dr. Yu accepts PhD students and has co-supervised several undergraduate honours projects achieving high distinctions.
