Professor Nathan Eva serves as Professor in the Department of Management at Monash Business School, part of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Drama alongside a Bachelor of Business in Management (Honours) in 2009, followed by a PhD in Management in 2013, both from Monash University. A 2021 Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar, Eva's research centers on servant leadership, leadership development, and leadership more broadly. His scholarship has profoundly shaped these fields, evidenced by his inclusion in Elsevier/Stanford University's list of the World's Top 2% scientists, ScholarGPS's top 1% of leadership scholars, and the League of Scholars' recognition as a global leader in Human Resources and Organisations in 2024. Highly cited publications include 'Servant leadership: A systematic review and call for future research' (2019, The Leadership Quarterly, over 3,300 citations), 'Psychological safety: A systematic review of the literature' (2017, Human Resource Management Review, over 2,300 citations), 'Addressing common method variance and endogeneity in vocational behavior research' (2020, Journal of Vocational Behavior), 'Servant leadership and follower job performance' (2016, Public Administration), and 'SLBS-6: Validation of a short form of the servant leadership behavior scale' (2019, Journal of Business Ethics).
Eva has garnered major accolades, including the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence (2023 and 2016), Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher (2020), 2015 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in Leadership and Organizational Behavior, and 2016 ECR Greenleaf Scholar. He holds prominent roles such as Senior Editor of Management and Organizational Review (since 2021), Editorial Board Member for The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics, and Group and Organizational Management, and Co-Chair of the International Leadership Association’s Leadership Education Academy (since 2018). Additionally, he has served as Co-Director of Engagement for the Department of Management (2023-2024) and delivered keynotes at business functions, symposia, and schools on topics like non-traditional leadership models and servant leadership.
