Nicholas Glover is a Lecturer in Human Movement at Adelaide University’s School of Allied Health and Human Performance in the College of Health. He earned a degree in Applied Science (Human Movement) majoring in Outdoor Education and a research degree in Health Science with First Class Honours from the University of South Australia. Glover’s research focuses on green exercise and the physical and mental health benefits of time spent in nature. His notable publications include the co-authored article “GOING GREEN: The Effectiveness of a 40-Day Green Exercise Intervention for Insufficiently Active Adults” (Sports, 2019) and the textbook “Outdoor and Environmental Education: Foundations” (Greenhill Publishing, 2025).
Glover’s career began with seven years in information technology sales, followed by two years teaching English in Japan, igniting his passion for education. Upon returning to Australia, he worked extensively in outdoor settings, delivering programs in corporate training, youth-at-risk initiatives, eco-tourism, school, and tertiary outdoor education. Since 2011, he has been part of the Human Movement program, teaching courses on group development, physical activity, motor development, health, research methods, statistics, and outdoor education. He coordinates courses such as Foundations of Outdoor Leadership, Leadership in Bush Environments, and Leadership for Country & Well-Being, supporting students from Human Movement, Education, and Outdoor & Environmental Leadership programs. Glover contributes to professional training for bushwalking guides (Walking SA) and paddling instructors (Paddle SA). He chairs the Outdoor Educators’ Association of South Australia, receiving their Service Award, serves on the board of Outdoor Education Australia, and is a member of the Australian Tertiary Outdoor Education Network. He also participates in Paddle SA’s Education & Safety Technical Committee and Walking SA’s Assessment Panel and Education Committee, while serving in the ALH Teaching Innovations Group and as an Academic Integrity Officer at the university.
