Patil Vishwanath is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Her academic interests center on stigma, addiction studies, drug policy, alcohol and other drugs, and health workforce training. She conducts research that documents the lived experiences of individuals experiencing opioid dependence and participating in opioid replacement therapy programs, with a particular emphasis on regional and rural settings in Australia. Through collaborations with government and non-government partners, Patil Vishwanath examines policy and practice implications to enhance social work interventions in addiction treatment and related health services. Her contributions highlight the need for client-centered approaches in community-based models and address barriers in service delivery for vulnerable populations.
