Patricia Terrill serves as Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery within the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Monash University. She is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Melbourne in 1982 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1993. Her extensive training encompassed eight years in general and plastic surgery across Melbourne and Hobart, followed by three years in London focusing on hand surgery and burns. Since 1993, she has practiced as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Peninsula Health, where she headed the Plastic Surgery Unit at Frankston Hospital from 1996 to 2023. Terrill maintains an active clinical practice specializing in skin cancer surgery, hand surgery, cosmetic breast and abdominal surgery, and wound management. She holds memberships in the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Australian Hand Surgery Association, and Wounds Australia, and is a retired member of the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Terrill's research specializations include wound management, skin cancer, plastic surgery, surgery, and surgical education. She has authored several peer-reviewed articles, such as 'The use of gentian violet and methylene blue impregnated foam for treatment of chronic leg ulcers' (2022, Wound Practice and Research), 'Negative-pressure dressings in lower limb skin grafts: a randomised controlled trial of PICO versus standard dressings' (2021, Australasian Journal of Plastic Surgery), 'Postoperative management of lower limb split-thickness skin grafts in Australia' (2020, Australasian Journal of Plastic Surgery), 'Frostbite following cryolipolysis: a case report' (2019, Australasian Journal of Plastic Surgery), and 'Negative pressure wound therapy in the management of complex lower limb wounds: A case series highlighting outpatient care with small single-use devices' (2019, Wound Practice and Research). Additional contributions include studies on blood absorption by moist wound healing dressings and comparative analyses of absorbent dressings for split-thickness skin graft donor sites. She has developed educational videos for training medical students and residents in communication and informed consent, and continues involvement in studies on skin cancer and wound management.
