Associate Professor Rahman Daiyan is a renewable energy and powerfuel specialist at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering at the University of New South Wales. He serves as an Associate Professor and Scientia Fellow, as well as an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award Fellow. His work focuses on technology development, technoeconomic feasibility studies, and technical design for government and industry clients across the Asia-Pacific and European Union regions. He holds the position of deputy lead for the NSW Powerfuels including Hydrogen Network and acts as a Chief Investigator in multiple major initiatives, including the ARC Training Centre for Global Hydrogen Economy, the ARC Research Hub in Next Generation Mining Methods, the Australian Centre of Excellence for Carbon Science and Innovation, the ARC Centre of Excellence in Renewable Fuels, the Australian Trailblazer Recycling and Clean Energy Program, and the ARENA and AEA funded OzAmmonia project. He also serves as the Australian research lead for Horizon Europe HyLuxValley and leads the Green Metal Feasibility Study with the EU.
Associate Professor Daiyan has secured numerous research grants and leads projects on renewable hydrogen, ammonia production, green iron and steel, and related energy transition technologies. He coordinates and delivers courses including AGSM9162 Decarbonisation and Transition to Clean Energy and CEIC6714 Hydrogen Systems Engineering and Economics, along with short courses on renewable fuels, critical minerals, and hydrogen production. His contributions include book chapters on topics such as renewable hydrogen production economics and clean energy options.
