Reeshad Dalal is a Professor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology in the Department of Psychology at George Mason University. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, with a minor in Quantitative Psychology, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003, and his M.A. in Social Psychology from the same institution in 2001. After completing his doctorate, he served as an Assistant Professor at Purdue University for four years before joining George Mason University in August 2007. He previously chaired the Psychology Department from 2013 to 2017 and currently directs the M.A. program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Dr. Dalal's research examines employee performance, focusing on counterproductive and citizenship behaviors; decision-making, including advice-taking processes and individual styles; the interplay of personality and job situations; job attitudes and mood or emotions; and organizational science approaches to cybersecurity. A recurring theme in his work is the examination of changes within individuals over time and across situations. He has obtained over four million dollars in external funding as Principal or Co-Principal Investigator from sources including the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences. His publications appear in premier outlets such as the Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. He has co-edited three books: Judgment and Decision Making at Work (2013), Psychosocial Dynamics of Cyber Security (2016), and Handbook of Counterproductive Work Behavior. A Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, he formerly served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Business and Psychology and remains on its editorial board. He is scheduled to serve as SIOP President-Elect in 2026-27, President in 2027-28, and Past President in 2028-29.
