Rob Dawson, DNP, RN, FNP-C, serves as Professor and Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Indiana Wesleyan University. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1995, Master of Science from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2004, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Ball State University in 2012. As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse, Dawson has advanced nursing education through administrative leadership and teaching. His career at Indiana Wesleyan University includes progression from faculty roles to Associate Dean of Pre-licensure Programs, Chair of the Division of Pre-Licensure Programs, and currently Dean, overseeing accredited nursing and health professions programs including BS in Nursing, MSN, and DNP offerings.
Dawson's research specializations and academic interests include global health care, volunteerism in health care, underserved populations, diabetes self-management, and depression in diabetic patients. He has contributed to interprofessional education initiatives and serves as the Indiana state grassroots liaison for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. As Chief Nurse Administrator, he supports CCNE accreditation for the university's Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master's nursing programs. Under his deanship, the Pre-licensure Nursing program achieved a perfect NCLEX pass rate in 2024, and the School of Nursing celebrated 50 years of graduates. Dawson also holds clinical roles, including at Indiana Health Centers in Marion, Indiana, integrating practice with education. His work emphasizes excellence in preparing nurses for service in diverse and challenging health care environments.
