Professor Romeo Chua is a professor and Co-Director in the School of Kinesiology within the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. He holds a BSc in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University (1991), an MSc in Human Biodynamics from McMaster University (1992), and a PhD in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University (1995). His research centers on human perceptual-motor control, with a focus on the neurobehavioural mechanisms underlying sensory and perceptual contributions to the preparation and execution of goal-directed actions, including volitional and automatic control of visually-guided action, motor preparation, sensorimotor adaptation and learning, and perceptual-motor compatibility.
Chua serves as an Associate Member at ICORD. He was awarded a Fellowship in the Society by SCAPPS in 2017. He teaches courses including KIN 211 Human Motor Behaviour I, KIN 311 Sensorimotor Control of Human Movement, KIN 419 Laboratory Investigations in Neuromechanical Kinesiology, and KIN 568 Seminar in Human Sensorimotor Control. His work has contributed to understanding sensorimotor adaptation in response to perturbations in the sensory or neuromuscular environment.
