Sabrina Landa serves as a Full Time Lecturer in the Accountancy Department of the College of Business at California State University, Long Beach. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Chapman University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Global, and All But Dissertation (ABD) status. Over the past seven years, she has taught a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting. Landa has innovated in student support by piloting embedded tutoring sections for ACCT 201 (Financial Accounting) in Fall 2019, leading sessions in Microsoft Excel and Power BI during COB Boot Camps, and serving as a leader in academic support and innovation for CSULB Graduate Business Programs. She is also affiliated faculty with the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and chairs the Faculty Advisory Committee on Technology (FACT).
Prior to her academic career, Landa accumulated more than 15 years of industry experience as an accountant, holding positions such as controller and chief operations officer, which equipped her with expertise in strategic decision making, initial public offerings, and public financial reporting. Presently, she owns and operates a boutique firm specializing in advisory services, accounting systems development, and financial services for small to midsized clients. Landa's research focuses on effective teaching methodologies and accounting practices. Her notable publications include "Revenue Recognition and Long-Term Contracts" co-authored with Greg Gaynor, Ph.D., CPA; John Palmer, CMA; and Sudha Krishnan, Ph.D., published in the September 2022 issue of Strategic Finance; "Learners' experience and needs in online environments: adopting agility in teaching" with Cindy Chen, Aivanna Padilla, and Jasmine Yur-Austin, published in 2021 in the Journal of Research in Innovative Teaching & Learning; and "Post-pandemic assessment of online teaching and learning in higher education," published in 2022 in the International Journal of Educational Management. Additionally, she has presented at the Western Decision Sciences Institute conferences, including on the role of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) in knowledge retention through AI projects.
