Dr. Sean Yap is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions (CNCS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), affiliated with the Faculty of Science and the Department of Biological Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from NUS and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biological Sciences.
His research focuses on the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence for biodiversity monitoring and conservation. He combines bioacoustics with AI to analyze soundscapes in forest environments. His work at the Lab for Advancing Protection of biodiversity with Innovative Solutions (LAPIS) examines how human-generated noise affects animal activity in forests and whether microforests can improve ecological connectivity in urban landscapes.
