Dr. Khor Shed Peng is a Senior Lecturer (Education Focused) in the Malaysia Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Monash University, serving at the Clinical School Johor Bahru, Monash University Malaysia. She earned her undergraduate medical degree (MD) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1994 and obtained her specialist qualification in Paediatrics, MRCP(UK), from the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 1998. Prior to joining Monash University Malaysia in 2010 as fractional staff, Dr. Khor Shed Peng worked at the Paediatrics Institute in Kuala Lumpur and subsequently in private practice, accumulating substantial clinical experience in child health.
In her current position, Dr. Khor Shed Peng dedicates herself to medical education, particularly teaching Year 4 students during the Children's Health rotation. Her instructional methods include bedside teachings for practical patient interaction, small group tutorials to explore paediatric topics in depth, student-led case presentations to enhance analytical and communication skills, written assignments for knowledge assessment, and clinical assessments to evaluate competencies. She also supervises undergraduate research projects, including studies on very preterm babies (born before 32 weeks gestation) and very low birth weight infants (under 1500g), which represent 15% of neonatal admissions. Dr. Khor Shed Peng contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being through her educational efforts.
