Sherah Kurnia is a Professor in the School of Computing and Information Systems within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She holds a PhD in inter-organizational information system adoption from Monash University, a Bachelor of Computing (Honours), and a Graduate Certificate in University Teaching. Her career at the University of Melbourne has seen her progress to full professorship, where she contributes to teaching and research in information systems. Kurnia is a key member of the Information Systems Research Group, focusing on practical applications of technology in organizational contexts.
Her research specializations include inter-organizational systems, technology adoption and diffusion, business-to-business electronic commerce, technology-enabled supply chain management, enterprise systems, enterprise architecture, digital transformation, supply chain resilience, sustainability with an emphasis on ESG factors, digital food supply chain traceability, AI applications in precision agriculture and rural communities, cyber security readiness, and innovations in the digital society. Sherah Kurnia has produced nearly 200 publications, accumulating over 4,400 citations on ResearchGate. Key works include "Sustainable Supply Chain Management: Taxonomy, Gaps, and Future Directions" co-authored with Rajkumar Buyya, "A qualitative study of business-to-business electronic commerce adoption within the Indonesian grocery industry: A multi-theory perspective" (Information & Management, 2016), "The Structuring of Enterprise Architecture Functions in Organizations: Towards a Systematic Theory" (2023), "Enterprise Architecture as Strategic Enabler in ESG Transition and Resilience" (2024), and the edited volume "Social Inclusion and Usability of ICT-enabled Services" (Routledge). She has secured seven Best Paper Awards from leading Information Systems conferences and participated in grants such as Australia Awards Fellowships for developing cyber resilience. Kurnia has served on conference committees, including ACIS 2023.
