Dr Silvia Colaiacomo is an Associate Professor in Higher Education Learning and Teaching at the University of Greenwich, serving in the Academic & Learning Enhancement team. She engages in various projects focused on curriculum design and development, assessment practices, sustainability integration in higher education, and supporting diverse cohorts of students and colleagues. Colaiacomo teaches on the PGCert programme and acts as a mentor and assessor for the GOLD scheme, which fosters professional development among staff. She contributes significantly to the Curriculum Shape project, aligned with the university's Student Success sub-strategy, aiming to enhance programme structures and student outcomes. Her research specializations encompass curriculum design, internationalisation of higher education, assessment and feedback mechanisms, and sustainability in higher education. She also advances inclusive, evidence-informed learning approaches, curriculum innovation across disciplines, and globally-minded, socially just educational experiences for diverse communities.
Recognized as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) and Senior Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SFSEDA), Colaiacomo holds leadership roles including PDF Co-Chair and membership in the International Consortium for Educational Development. Previously, she served as a Lecturer (Teaching) in the Arena Centre for Research-Based Education at University College London. Her scholarly contributions include the publication 'Co-creating "Map My Assessment": a strategic tool for programme assessment planning and student success' (2025, co-authored with Jingyang Ai and Nicoleta Catalina) in Compass: Journal of Learning and Teaching, and 'The Digital Classroom Project at the University of Kent' (2020). She has participated in editorial teams for Compass and presented at events such as the SHIFT 2025 conference, influencing practices in higher education enhancement, student engagement, and inclusive curriculum strategies at the University of Greenwich and internationally.
