Dr Temesgen Kifle is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland, where he specializes in applied economics. His research focuses on labor market dynamics, immigrant assimilation and occupational mobility, job satisfaction and underemployment, student evaluations of teaching, health-related economic behaviors such as smoking and alcohol use, and development issues in African contexts including Eritrea. Kifle has contributed to various research projects, including serving as an associate advisor for the PhD thesis "Retirement migration of the baby boomers in Australia: Beach, bush or busted?" completed in 2011. He has also engaged in teaching innovation, producing works on assessment practices, microcredentials, and strategies to prevent cheating in large classes.
Throughout his career at the University of Queensland, Kifle has held key appointments such as UQ Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (2006–2009) and received funding including UQ Early Career Researcher grant (2007–2009), ResTEach 0.2 FTE (2010–2011), and the ongoing FamilyLinQ Evaluation Framework and Plan (2022–2026) from the Queensland Department of Education.
