Terry Friebe is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health, at Adelaide University. A Registered Nurse, she commenced her career in 1986 as an Enrolled Nurse and qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1990. Her clinical experience includes surgical nursing in vascular, plastics and reconstruction, breast and endocrine, gynaecology, and colorectal areas. Developing an interest in nurse education while mentoring students on clinical placements and supporting Transition to Practice Nurses, Friebe joined the University of South Australia in 2006. There, she taught and provided clinical facilitation in the Australian Registered Nurse Training Program and Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Bridging and Re-entry), coordinating and teaching all courses. She also coordinated and taught in the Bachelor of Nursing and Diploma of Nursing programs for several Registered Training Organisations.
Currently, Friebe course coordinates Comprehensive Care of the Older Person, Palliative Care Nursing, and Leadership and Management in Nursing and Health Contexts at Adelaide University. As Program Co-ordinator for Postgraduate Nursing, she works with the Program Director to maintain high-quality programs and supports the teaching team. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Practice (Clinical Teaching), and Masters in Nursing (Education). Research interests encompass challenges for culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) students in clinical environments, their learning impacts, and roles in mentorship teams. Key publications are co-authored works: 'The effectiveness of clinical education models for undergraduate nursing programs: A systematic review' (Nurse Education in Practice, 2018) and 'Clinical education models for undergraduate nursing programs' (Proceedings of the 5th Annual Worldwide Nursing Conference, 2017). She serves on the Teaching, Learning Quality Group, CHS Nursing and Midwifery Assessment Advisory Group, and Clinical Education Strategy Group.
