Thais Bento Lima da Silva is a gerontologist who earned her bachelor's degree in Gerontology from the University of São Paulo. She completed a postgraduate specialization in Neurosciences at the School of Medicine of ABC and obtained both her master's and doctoral degrees in the Neurology Program at the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. She serves as a lecturer in the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in Gerontology at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities of the University of São Paulo. From 2009 to 2022, she was a contracted professor teaching in the undergraduate Gerontology course at the same institution. She also coordinates the Postgraduate Program in Gerontology at the Paulista School of Social Service.
Dr. Bento Lima da Silva is a researcher at the Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology Group of the Hospital das Clínicas at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo and at the Center for Reference in Cognitive Disorders of the Elderly. She is additionally affiliated with the Cognitive Aging Studies Center and the Research and Study Center on Gerontology at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities of the University of São Paulo. Her work focuses on cognitive training and stimulation, normal and pathological aging, multifactorial cognitive stimulation programs, online psychoeducational interventions, emotional burden and support for caregivers of individuals with dementia, and gerontology management. She has coordinated studies including a randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of a multifactorial cognitive stimulation program and participation in a multicenter Phase III clinical trial of Gantenerumab for early Alzheimer's disease. Since 2009, she has served as voluntary coordinator of a support group for caregivers and family members of patients with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders through the Brazilian Association of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. She previously coordinated field activities for research on permanent education and the benefits of the Open University for the Elderly, funded by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira of the Ministry of Education. Dr. Bento Lima da Silva held the presidency of the Brazilian Gerontology Association for the terms 2011–2013 and 2014–2016, served as Executive Advisor from 2017 to 2019 with an extension through 2021, and has been Scientific Director since 2021.
