Tianguang Meng is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Political Science at Tsinghua University’s School of Social Sciences. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and Public Administration and a Ph.D. in Political Science with a focus on China Politics from Peking University. His academic appointments at Tsinghua University include Assistant Professor (2015–2016), Associate Professor (2016–2019), Tenured Associate Professor (2019–2022), and Tenured Professor (2022–present). He also serves as Adjunct Professor at Schwarzman Scholars and has held positions as Post-doctoral Fellow at Tsinghua and visiting scholar at Harvard University and the University of California, San Diego.
Meng’s research focuses on Chinese politics, politics of information, digital governance, and computational social science. He holds leadership roles including Party Secretary and Associate Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Vice Director of the Lab on Computational Social Science and State Governance, and Executive Director of the Research Center on Data and Governance. His extensive publications address topics such as government responsiveness, online political participation, digital state capacity, and the intersection of technology and governance in China. Meng contributes to the field through editorial and committee roles as well as public lectures on computational political science and digital governance.
