Tim Anderson is a political economist who served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Sydney from 1998 until his termination in 2019. He previously held a lecturer position at the University of Technology Sydney from 1994 to 1999. Anderson obtained a BA in economics from Murdoch University in 1983, a BA (Hons) from Macquarie University in 1986, and a PhD from Macquarie University in 1997. His academic work focused on development, human rights, and self-determination in the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as independent regional integration and resistance to contemporary conflicts. He has authored multiple books, including Land and Livelihoods in Papua New Guinea (2015), The Dirty War on Syria (2016), Countering Propaganda of the Dirty War on Syria (2017), Axis of Resistance: Towards an Independent Middle East (2019), The Pandemic and Independent Countries (2020), and West Asia After Washington (2023). Anderson has published more than 70 academic articles and chapters in various journals and books. He currently serves as Director of the Centre for Counter Hegemonic Studies.
