Timothy Benham serves as Professor I at Palm Beach State College on the Lake Worth campus, where he contributes to the English department with a focus on Literature. His extensive academic background includes a BA in Classical Studies from Indiana University, a BA in French Literature from Florida Atlantic University, an MA in Comparative Literature from Florida Atlantic University, an MA in Biblical Studies from Cincinnati Christian Seminary, an MDiv in Hebrew Bible from Cincinnati Christian Seminary, a ThM in New Testament Studies and Patristics from Duke University, a BA in Music Technology and Performance from Florida Atlantic University, and 30 graduate hours in Classical Studies from the University of Chicago. Benham teaches a diverse array of courses, including ENC 1141: Writing About Literature, LIT 1000: Introduction to Literature, LIT 2110: World Literature Before the Renaissance, LIT 2120: World Literature After the Renaissance, LIT 2370: The Bible As Literature, ENC 1101: College Composition 1, ENC 1102: College Composition 2, IDH 2105: Honors Knowledge Through the Ages, FIL 2537C: Introduction to Sound, RTV 1558: Studio Recording, MUS 1621C: Acoustics/Psychoacoustics, FIL 1547C: Mixing and Mastering for Recording Arts 1, FIL 2543C: Film Sound Design, and FIL 2538C: Advanced Sound for Film.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Benham holds professional certifications as an AVID Certified Pro Tools Music Expert, AVID Certified Pro Tools Operator, AVID Certified Pro Tools User, Waves Gold Certification, and Waves Certification. He serves on the Academic Integrity Committee, Honors Advisory Council, and Faculty Development Advisory Committee at Palm Beach State College. Benham is a member of the College English Association and the Audio Engineering Society. In 2024, he received a Certificate in Effective Online Teaching Practices from the Association of College and University Educators, endorsed by the American Council on Education. He has presented scholarly work, including the paper 'Platonic Madness in Percy Bysshe Shelley's Defense of Poetry' at a conference organized by Nova Southeastern University's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
