Dr. Tina Marcoionni serves as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University. She holds a Doctor of Education (DEd) and a Master of Leadership and Management (MLM), both from Central Queensland University. Prior to her current role, Marcoionni was a Secondary School Deputy Principal with Education Queensland and held the position of Associate Professor and Associate Head of School in Education in the Northern Territory. Her professional expertise centers on the design of purpose-fit Teacher Professional Learning Initiatives, employing community networks and distributed leadership models to enhance pedagogical practices. As a first-generation Italo-Australian, she integrates cultural connections into a learner-focused approach to 21st-century schooling. Marcoionni's collaborative research emphasizes leveraging technologies to empower learner access, agency, and contributions to the curriculum, aiming to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Marcoionni is actively involved as co-lead researcher in several funded projects within the Faculty of Education's TeachLab research group. These include 'Re-imagining teacher education: An investigation into theory practice translation mechanisms, professional preparation partnerships and new knowledge for developing teacher professional learning,' funded by the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools Ltd for $1,095,000; 'An Investigation into School and Teaching Improvement: The St Andrews Lutheran College Research Project,' funded by St Andrews Lutheran College for $465,000; and 'An investigation into the use of micro-credentialing as a professional learning mechanism for teacher improvement,' funded by St Edwards Catholic Primary School Tamworth for $20,000. Her scholarly contributions feature key publications such as 'Action research communities as a whole-of-school teaching improvement initiative: a multi-method, multi-informant study' (2024, Australian Educational Researcher, with D. Lynch et al.); 'Adaptive Solutions for Teaching Improvement in Complex K-12 Situations' (2024, book chapter in Re-imagining Teaching Improvement, with D. Lynch); 'School leader perception of control and professional learning decision-making influences' (2023, Professional Development in Education, with T. Yeigh et al.); 'Teacher agency for inclusion: a study on the attitudes of pre-service support teachers' (2024, with T. Santilli and L.
