Ty Perrin serves as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University. His academic qualifications include an Advanced Diploma in Nursing (AdvDipNurs) from the University of New England (UNE), a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BSN) from UNE, a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (GCertCritCareNurs) from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and a Master of Nursing (MAN) from UTS. Perrin's professional career is marked by a decade of clinical experience in Neurosurgical Intensive Care Nursing at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH). Prior to his current role, he held a sessional lecturer position in the Faculty of Health, School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM) at UTS, where he contributed to nursing education drawing directly from his intensive care background.
At Southern Cross University, Ty Perrin teaches Nursing Practices 1 (NURS2017) in the Bachelor of Nursing program and Clinical Nursing 1 (NURS5014) in the Master of Nursing program as part of his SCU UA role. He emphasizes student-centred teaching practices to support the transformational progression of nursing students throughout their studies. Perrin's expertise areas include rural nursing, equity, inclusion and diversity, climate action in healthcare, and respiratory care. He actively contributes to the faculty's research and scholarship profile and anticipates commencing and completing his PhD studies. Additionally, Perrin is a proud member of the SCU Ally Network and an active participant in the SCU Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee, promoting inclusive environments within the university community. Through these engagements, he fosters lifelong connections with SCU networks and advances nursing discipline development.
