Tyler Reinagel, Ph.D., is Associate Vice President for Economic Development at Kennesaw State University, a position he assumed in July 2021 within the Office of Research. He leads efforts to foster economic development and community engagement, developing partnerships with industry, local governments, nonprofits, schools, and other entities to support entrepreneurial initiatives for faculty and students, joint ventures, business development, and outreach programs. Previously, Reinagel served as Director of Planning and Research for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Earlier in his career, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Affairs at Western Carolina University and a Research Associate at the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
Reinagel holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia, earned in 2013 and 2009, respectively. His academic interests encompass public finance, intergovernmental relations, local government management, and economic development. Key publications include 'The Limits of Public Service Motivation: Confidence in Government Institutions Among Public Servants' (Administration & Society, 2017), 'Experiential Learning in MPA Programs: A Case for Complementarity Between Internship and Service Learning Requirements' (PS: Political Science & Politics, 2016), 'Internships as Academic Exercise: An Assessment of MPA Curriculum Models' (Journal of Public Affairs Education, 2015), 'Assessing the State of Mandatory Fees in America's Public Colleges and Universities: Causes and Consequences' (Social Science Quarterly, 2020), and 'Budget Stability, Revenue Volatility, and District Relations: Determinants of Georgia ELOST Distribution to Municipal School Districts' (Journal of Education Finance, 2014). Reinagel has been selected for the Atlanta Regional Commission Leadership Institute class of 2022 and has moderated panels for organizations such as the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
