Valentina Bruk-Lee is an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Industrial and Organizational Psychology program in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University, a position she has held since joining the institution in 2009. She earned her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida in 2006, an M.A. in the same field from the University of South Florida in 2003, and a B.S. in Public Relations and Psychology from the University of Miami in 2000. Prior to FIU, Dr. Bruk-Lee worked as Senior Research Scientist and Professional Services Consultant at PreVisor (now SHL) from 2006 to 2009, and as Senior Research Associate at Personnel Decisions Research Institute from 2002 to 2006. In these roles, she consulted with private and public sector organizations, including projects for the U.S. Army and Navy, and led large-scale promotional test development and validation for state agencies such as the Florida Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture, Florida Highway Patrol, and Fish and Wildlife Commission. She leads the Healthy Work Lab at FIU, serves as affiliated faculty at the Center for Leadership where she conducts executive education seminars, acts as executive coach, and co-directs the Women Leaders Program, and is faculty with FIU EMBRACE to promote best practices in disability employment and leadership development.
Dr. Bruk-Lee's research specializations include occupational health and well-being, talent management, and disability inclusion, with her work securing over $3 million in state and federal grant funding. Her scholarly contributions have been published in leading journals such as Work & Stress, Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, Human Performance, and Accident Analysis and Prevention, and presented at conferences including the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Academy of Management, and APA’s Work, Stress, and Health. Key publications include "Staying silent about safety issues: Conceptualizing and measuring safety silence motives" (2016), "An expanded typology of conflict at work: Task, relationship and non-task organizational conflict as social stressors" (2013), "Replicating and extending past personality/job satisfaction meta-analyses" (2009), and "The social stressors-counterproductive work behaviors link: Are conflicts with supervisors and coworkers the same?" (2006). She has served on SIOP’s Professional Practice Committee on Occupational Health, Safety, and Well-Being, SIOP’s Disability, Inclusion and Accessibility Committee, and Florida’s Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award Committee. Dr. Bruk-Lee is on the editorial boards of Work & Stress and Occupational Health Science, and has received honors such as the University of South Florida Latino Graduate Fellowship (2001-2005) and nomination for the Outstanding Latina Faculty in Research and Teaching Award (2017).
