Dr Wikus Kruger is the Director of the Power Futures Lab at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business. He has worked in the African energy sector for 14 years and leads research on power sector investment in sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on accelerating renewable energy investment through structured procurement programmes such as auctions. Dr Kruger holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town, an MSc from Antwerp University, and MPhil, BPhil and BA degrees from Stellenbosch University. He previously served as a Junior Research Fellow and PhD candidate in the Power Futures Lab and as an Energy Advisor with the EU Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility. His academic work centres on renewable energy auctions, energy access and power economics, and he has authored or co-authored numerous publications in these areas, with his research cited hundreds of times.
