A British Journal of Anaesthesia reviewer, he is Course Director of the Advanced Airway Management Refresher Course, founding member of NATCAT, and educator in difficult airway and simulation training. His interests include simulation training and education, airway management, neurosurgery with complex spines and cerebral aneurysms, vascular surgery including interventional radiology, endocrine surgery such as phaeochromocytoma, orthopaedics and trauma, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Key publications are 'A comprehensive audit of difficult airway trolleys in selected Victorian hospitals' (2024), 'Airway management in the adult patient with COVID-19' (2021), 'Airway assessment and planning' (2015), and a randomised trial comparing Macintosh laryngoscope to McGrath videolaryngoscope (2014).
